2015 Lavinea Chardonnay

Elton has been a favorite for a long time by numerous talented winemakers and for good reason.  The vineyard has a long history and our chardonnay block was part of the very first import from France and planting of Dijon Clone Chardonnay in the Eola-Amity Hills in 1993.  The combination of volcanic Jory soils, gentle eastern slope and late afternoon cooling of the Van Duzer corridor winds perfects the notion of fresh fruits core surrounded by minerality & natural acidity that forms the “skeleton of the wine”, all in length, elegance, complexity and with great aging potential.

2016 Lavinea Elton Pinot Noir

Shimmering ruby-red. Explosive, mineral- and spice-accented aromas of fresh red berries and flowers, cherry pit, along with hints of blood orange and incense building in the glass. Shows excellent delineation and energetic lift in the mouth, offering powerful raspberry preserve, bitter cherry flavors and a suggestion of spicecake. Finishes with a jolt of juicy acidity, building sweetness and silky tannins, leaving succulent red berry and floral notes behind, eventually. (27% new French oak) — Josh Raynolds

2016 Lavinea Nysa Pinot Noir

Nestled at a very high elevation between Domaine Drouhin Oregon and Archery Summit on either sides, the Nysa Vineyard is perched high on an Eastern slope with gorgeous valley views.  This is our latest ripening vineyard which sets naturally low yields on intense volcanic Jory soils.  Planted in 2003, this is our youngest of the portfolio, yet one of the most complex capturing the typical cherry notes that made the Dundee Hills famous, completed by earthy characters with wonderful textures and a long vibrant finish.

2016 Lavinea Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

Limpid ruby-red. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry aromas, along with hints of woodsmoke, incense and candied flowers. Silky and focused on the palate, offering concentrated red fruit and floral pastille flavors that turn sweeter as the wine opens up. Fine-grained tannins lend shape to an extremely long, spice-tinged finish that shows outstanding clarity and building florality. Isabelle Meunier told me that she is not inclined to do punchdowns for her Temperance Hill as “there is plenty of structure there already” and she doesn’t want to exaggerate it by working the fruit too hard. 2016 Lavinea Tualatin Pinot Noir

Bright red. A sexy, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red berries, incense and allspice, and a smoky mineral accent adds urgency. Juicy, appealingly sweet and lively for the vintage, offering concentrated raspberry, cherry liqueur and spicecake flavors that show impressive lift and tension on the back half. Delivers a solid punch of flavor and comes off impressively graceful for its depth, showing no rough edges on the extremely long, mineral-driven finish. (30% new French oak) -- Josh Raynolds
